Since 1985,The backbone of this two-day, outdoor festival is the juried fine art show featuring over 250 artists from around the country. The festival also presents free concerts by national recording artists as well as regional and local acts. Other weekend events include Kids World - an arts and entertainment center for children, a 5K Run, Student Art Competition, free art workshops, food, refreshments and a complimentary Park and Ride service.

Since 1953, this is actually a series of over 35 events that take place throughout the city featuring concerts, sports competition, food, arts and crafts. Coachman Park plays host to some of the biggest events highlighting music concerts. The kick-off event is Beachfest on the first weekend. Another popular event is the illuminated Fun 'n Sun Night parade at 7:30pm on the last Saturday held on Cleveland Street.

Parade held downtown Saturday morning at 9:30am. Also make plans to visit the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History home of "The General" famous Civil War locomotive. The Kennesaw/Big Shanty Festival is one of the largest festivals in North Georgia.

Since 1987, celebration of the avocado in the "Avocado Capitol" with contests, entertainment, Main Street shops and street fair. Huge fun with 450 booths, arts, crafts, carnival, beer garde, avocado everything! Free admission, free parking, free shuttle. Music, contests, kids activities. A wide variety of agricultural displays are also found all along the Festival streets. What a fun-filled way to celebrate our heritage and be entertained at the same time. The central role the avocado plays in our lives is evident not only in the all new Avocado Central area, but also in the Guacamole Contest, Holy Guaca-Moly booths, the Art of the Avocado Contest on display, the Avo 500 children’s car race, and the Best Decorated Avocado Contest. A variety of avocado products are also found all along the Festival streets in the product and food vendors alike. It is a fun-filled way to celebrate our heritage and be entertained at the same time!

To some, it’s the official kick-off to the Kentucky Derby Festival. To others, it’s the unofficial beginning of spring. From the Thunder FoodFest to the Interactive Display Area to the Kid’s Play Areas on the Great Lawn, there’s refreshments and entertainment galore. When it gets dark, the Thunder rolls.
