Description:

North Carolina's only French and Indian War frontier fort. Three story log blockhouse constructed in 1756 to house 50 soldiers. Attacked by Cherokee Indians in 1760. Historic Site includes archaeological site of fort (with plans underway for a reconstruction,) visitor center, and nature trails. Guided tours daily as well as several living history reenactments each year.
