Beauty and the Beast
comes to the Candlelight for the Holidays
November 16 – February 14, 2018
The Candlelight Dinner Playhouse is proud to present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, adapted from Disney’s iconic 1991 animated movie masterpiece. This theatrical version – with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and a book by Linda Woolverton – premiered on Broadway in 1999 and ran for over 5,461 performances, garnering 9 Tony® Award nominations. Since that time, it has been translated into multiple languages and captivated audiences throughout the world.
Belle, a young woman from a small country town, is forced to stay in the castle of a terrifying Beast to save her father’s life. The Beast, in reality an arrogant young prince transformed by the spell of an enchantress, must learn how to love, and be loved. But his time is running out. If he cannot break the curse soon, he and his household will be doomed forever.
Candlelight welcomes Kalond Irlanda (Tommy in The Music Man) as the tormented Beast and Katie Jackson (Isobella in The Slipper and the Rose) as Belle, the woman who must learn to see the humanity trapped within his frightening form.
Our cast includes Bob Hoppe (most recently Harold Hill in The Music Man) as Lumiere, Joanie Beyette (Eva in Evita) as Mrs. Potts, Ethan Lee Knowles (John in The Slipper and the Rose) as Le Fou and Eric Heine as Gaston.
The talented team of Jessica Hindsley and Kate Valee both direct and choreograph our production. Jessica has performed on several Colorado stages including in Boulder and Breckenridge. Kate last choreographed CDP’s production of 42nd Street. In addition to her work as a choreographer she is proud to have been a Rockette in New York City.
Dinner and show tickets can be purchased by calling Candlelight’s box office – 970-744-3747, or online at www.ColoradoCandlelight.com.
